Marla A. Garza, a certified Physician Assistant, began her college education at the University of Texas-Pan American where she graduated and received a Bachelors of Science in Biology in May 2005. She then continued her education and participate in a Pre-Medical Post Baccalaureate program at American University in Washington, DC, where she studied and prepared for a future career in the healthcare setting. It was then that she decided to pursue her dream to work in medicine as a Physician Assistant. She received her second Bachelors degree in Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Texas-Pan American in May 2009. She has been working in the field of Pediatrics since August 2009.
Marla spent some time as a volunteer at Rio Grande Regional Hospital during her undergraduate years at UTPA. She also served as a teaching assistant in the Biology department at both American University and UT-Pan American. Marla is currently certified in Basic and Advanced Cardiac Life Support by the American Heart Association. She is also a member of the Texas Academy of Physician Assistants.
